So he plans on abandoning his flock to save his career with the ECUSA? That in itself sounds like a bad career choice, and reflects poorly on him as well.

"Moving out of Connecticut" is probably code for seeking pastoral oversight elsewhere. I didn't see anything else that supports a physical translation (except to a new locale in Bristol -- which means the parish is leaving both ECUSA and the property).

I hope your interpretation is correct, but a plain reading of the sentence seems to clearly suggest that he is going to be physically relocating from the state, and there is nothing in there which suggests that he is planning to remain with the congregation. The congregation itself is said to have contingency plans to meet at a different location.
