Top Vatican Cardinal: Gay Marriage is "A Crime Which represents the Destruction of the World" Gay Adoption "Destroy's the Child's Future" and is "An Act of Moral Violence Against the Child"

VATICAN, May 3, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - On the first business day after meeting privately with newly elected Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Alfonso López Trujillo, gave one of the strongest statements defending the traditional family in recent memory. The Cardinal, who was reinstated in his post as President of the Pontifical Council for the Family which he held under Pope John Paul II just after the election of Pope Benedict, met with the Pope Friday and on Monday gave an extensive interview to Fides news service on the subject of homosexual 'marriage'.

Homosexual 'Marriage'

Cardinal Trujillo said parliaments which "open the way for same sex 'marriage' . . . destroy piece by piece the institution of the family the most valuable heritage of peoples and humanity." He explained, "In these unions there are no promises for the partners or for the children, no stability, nothing before society or God, but they demand all the benefits of authentic marriage."

Homosexual Adoption

Asked about allowing same sex couples to adopt children, the Cardinal answered, "This would destroy the child's future, it would be an act of moral violence against the child."

He said, "They say that children adopted by two people of the same sex are very happy. A child may be for a couple of years but when the child reaches the age of reason, when he grows up and becomes a young adult, how tragic it will be for him to let his friends know that his 'parents' are two women or two men? This situation endangers the child's personality, balance, harmony."

No Unjust Discrimination

The head of the Pontifical Council for the Family also repeated the Church's teaching that homosexual persons are to be treated with respect., but added that they should be assisted as far as possible to overcome their disordered inclinations. "As I have said many times, homosexual peoples must be respected, loved and assisted. We must help them overcome this situation if they seriously want to and help them realise that there is not only life on earth, there is another life. The Church does not wish to see these 'couples' suffer discrimination, or humiliation, jeered at or treated without respect. They are human persons and we must love them. It is false to say that the Church does not love these people. She loves them and wants to lead them to eternal salvation."

Duty to Refuse to Participate

Cardinal Trujillo also spoke of conscientious objection. "This means a person can use his or her right to object out of conscience and refuse to comply with this crime which represents the destruction of the world."

The Cardinal went further noting a duty to refuse to participate in homosexual unions comparing it to the duty of Christian doctors "who refuse to carry out abortions". He said, "All Christians, including state employees, have a duty to avail themselves of conscientious objection because the law of which we are speaking inflicts a deep moral wound on the Christian faith."

Countries Which Would not Tolerate Conscientious Objection Denounced

"It would be pure totalitarianism if a person were sacked for conscientious objection." The strong condemnation would already apply to certain Canadian provinces where, while ministers of religion are not forced to perform homosexual 'marriages' as of yet, civil marriage ministers are required to under pain of job loss.

It looks like the Vatican is doing what the Southern Baptist Convention did a few years ago. Unapologetically stating the Biblical worldview.

Now that sounds like a prince of the Church.

As Fr. Malachi Martin stated, all of these attacks on the family are ultimately attacks on the Trinity. The family is designed in God's image to reflect the Trinity. "God is a family affair" if you destroy the family as it was designed, you destroy the effective understanding of the Trinity.

The plainspoken truth. The fact that many consider the truth outlandish underscores the need for more of it to be spoken.

I recall Fr. Martin's interview on that subject. He said... "It is an arrow aimed straight at the heart of the trinity.." A vivid and accurate description

Sounds right to me.

The Rainbow Sash Movement has been very vocal recently, with "in your face" rhetoric aimed at our new Holy Father, urging rebellion and disobedience.

If the Church continues to openly and unapologetically preach the Gospel-as she will- this will lead inevitably to a new persecution and attacks against her, with the sodomy-lovers in the vanguard of the movement.

All in the name of "tolerance" and "eliminating hateful religious propaganda", you understand. Look at what's now happening in Canada, Spain, yes the US too, and other post-Christian countries, with laws about "hate speech", homosexual "marriage" etc. No dissent is permitted.

The train has already gone too far down the tracks for this to be reversed and the secular onslaught against the Church wiil gather force as more faithful and courageous leaders cry out the truth.

When Herod was rebuked by John the Baptist for his immorality, John paid for it with his life. Nothing has changed.

It's nice to see this kind of language coming from Rome. Let's hope the Bishops Confrences don't employ their usual tapdance of issuing ambiguously contradictory statements or saying that it doesn't apply to them.

Not to ignore the other respectable posts that recognize the goodness in the words of Trujillo, I just don't have much time right now so I thought this, following, would be appropriate.

>>Asked about allowing same sex couples to adopt children, the Cardinal answered, "This would destroy the child's future, it would be an act of moral violence against the child."<<

This is true, and I might add, it is putting it MILDLY! Such words are not what the media (nor homosexual critics of same) is accustomed to having seen in public. Good.

But it is not enough.

Proof (we don't have to go far for proof):

>>...when the child reaches the age of reason, when he grows up and becomes a young adult, how tragic it will be for him to let his friends know that his 'parents' are two women or two men? This situation endangers the child's personality, balance, harmony."<<

The very next paragraph takes much of the wind out of the sails. Why? The sentence above would assume that the child adopted by queers does not tell his friends until he grows up. False presumption. Here in Los Angeles, about the same time that they took away corporal punishment from the Principals of elementary schools, they began a district wide program (pogrom?) of killing souls. It consisted of teaching the kindergarteners that it is not nice to tease other children who have two mommies or two daddies. The pogrom quickly expanded to the higher grades.

If anyone doubts the appropriateness of my equating such false teaching with the killing of souls, let me point out the natural consequence of removing the power of Principals to administer corporal punishment. After about 5 years of worsening behavior, the Principals, at their wits' end, clammored for some kind of relief. The LAUSD came to the rescue with another typically Communist solution: the elementary "School Police" patrol cars, that had been on duty for some time already, were outfitted with shotguns.

This business of teaching innocent children that homosexuality is socially acceptable kills the life of God's grace in their souls before they are able to appreciate an innocent childhood. Homosexuals should not be allowed to adopt children because it is a moral crime that cries to heaven for vengeance and we as a society will one day pay the terrible price. The reason is not limited to how "endangered" the child's "personality, balance, harmony" becomes! This sort of psychobabble is a time bomb, a perversion in and of itself, and it is frankly reprehensible. I am sorry if this offends anyone, but it is stark, open truth. We are in real big trouble and I, for one, am not afraid to point it out.

These carefully measured words of Trujillo might be intended to broach a very difficult topic, but I really believe that the reason the topic has become difficult to broach is because the Vatican has taken an enormous hiatus on being clear and strong on such matters. The cost for such negligence (or worse!) will be high, and it could be astronomical...

Asked about allowing same sex couples to adopt children, the Cardinal answered, "This would destroy the child's future, it would be an act of moral violence against the child."

So much for the "wisdom" of Texas allowing homosexuals to adopt.

As an interesting aside, however, I hear the "Old Catholic" or "Old Roman Catholic" churches (schismatic churches that broke away from Rome in the late 1800s) sometimes support homosexual adoption, and their ordained clergy, some of whom are former Catholic priests who left to get married, often make such statements publicly. In fact, this was mentioned to me today by a wonderful priest, Fr. Schumacher, Vicar General of the Diocese of Fort Worth.

Homosexual Agenda Ping.

Good, good, good. I am very happy that the new Pope and his assistants (I don't know the proper words...) are SPEAKING THE TRUTH NON-STOP!!!

(Sorry, had to shout a little.)

:-)

I like this part especially:

""As I have said many times, homosexual peoples must be respected, loved and assisted.

Note: There is another life. If we base our decisions on the erroneous belief that no one will sow what they reap, that death meands the end of existence, then we go to hell, and so does the world as a whole. People need to know the basic truth that as we play, we will have to pay, one way or another. Actions have repercussions, even if we can't see this happening with our earthly eyes.

Let me know if you want on/off this pinglist.

Another note: Isn't it mind boggling that people call this kind of message "hateful"???

This could be the real reason Levada was called to Rome. He campaigned against so called anti-gay legislation.

If true, I am reassured.

How comforting to hear this! Bishop Trujillo speaks rightly and accurately.

Is it my imagination, or does it seem that more Bishop and priests have recently found the moral courage to speak up?
