murph, this was a nice post.

In I think the Remnant, there is a news brief about one of the Medjugore seers coming to Alabama this summer. Apparently, there is advance notice Mary will be appearing ;-) We have also been notified Mary's date of birth has been changed to August. While they claim to respect the Church's traditional teaching of Mary's birthday as Sept. 8th, they are praying the Church will change.

Seriously, this is the kind of thing we are warned against. I know there are many good people of all affiliations who believe in Medj and had some conversion or experience. IMO, that speaks to the intentions of a person who makes a spiritual pilgrimage with a strong faith and pure heart.

My priest has advised me so far to be wary of certain things. First, Mary and other apparitions aren't real wordy. She doesn't talk a lot and certainly doesn't make small talk. She wouldn't come everyday for 20+ years, especially with no coherent message. Private or public supernatural experiences are rare events. Church teaching should never be contradicted, reinvented or the body of revelation altered in any way. That's another big warning sign. We also have to consider the moral and spiritual life of the seer, before and after the experience.
