Satan was already there w/Job and his sons. Do you not think God knew what he was up to?
It seems Job was only one of the "sons of God" assembled, and Satan was hanging out among them. Clearly God directed Satan's attention toward Job; God knew exactly what would come of it.
Not necessarily - Satan was there already among Job. Satan knew about the hedge. Satan attention was already on Job. When God asks a question - he already knows the answer.
And your point is?
?
Satan was there already among Job.
Yes, he was there among Job and how ever many other "sons of God" were assembled.
Satan knew about the hedge.
In fact, it seems quite possible that Satan had not given much consideration to God's servant Job because of that hedge which rendered him powerless against Job. Then, much to Satan's delight, God removed the hedge.
Satan attention was already on Job.
Proof, please. Yes, Satan obviously knew enough about Job's success and the hedge around him. But, that does not mean his attention was on Job. Again, because of the hedge, Satan knew full well he was powerless against Job. Note that Satan didn't even go so far as to suggest God would remove the hedge; in verse 11, Satan says Job will curse God if God will touch all that Job has. Much to Satan's surprise and delight, God said 'No, you do it.'
When God asks a question - he already knows the answer.
Of course He knew whether Satan had considered His servant Job. Perhaps he had; perhaps not. Why did God bring up Job's name? I cannot rule out the possibility that, due to that hedge, Satan had pretty much given up on ever getting a chance to inflict any hardship on Job. But, as they say, the Lord works in mysterious ways.
And your point is?
God is sovereign. See #89.
LOL. So, what do you do with Job? Was it not God's will that Job's whole family die?
If you agree that God could have changed the Terri Schiavo story at any point, that He knew precisely what would happen before He gave life to the Schindlers, Terri Schiavo, Michael Schiavo, Judge Greer, et. al., and that He is sovereign in all things, you must also agree that He not only put it all in motion but was also sovereign over every detail from the beginning of creation to the end of time.
Your only alternative is to say that God is in some way lacking some power, such that He is unable to affect some of the details, that something is outside of His control.
If you find even the slightest truth in that latter alternative, just say so and I'll not spend another keystroke on you.
God doesn't interfere with free will.
Please provide some Biblical proof of that. Then tell me how you explain where it says, for example, that God hardened Pharaoh's heart against Israel (Ex. 9:12). Doesn't that mean God interfered with Pharaoh's free will?
God's will is not subject to the will of His creation. He does not look into the future to see what men will do and tweak His plans accordingly.
We are all accountable for what we do and say ...
Of course we're accountable. Don't try to equate sovereignty with unaccountability. See Romans 9.
