As I have stated numerous times in the past, I hope the fact that I have signed a Health Care Power of Attorney -- giving my wife complete authority to speak on my behalf when I am unable to speak for myself -- means that I don't have to wonder if some busy-body do-gooders (even my parents) will attempt to prolong my life if it's determined I'm in a PVS. The way so many professed Christians seem to go off the deep end in regard to this case, I have to wonder whether they think this is the greatest place we'll ever be and it only gets worse from here.
Back to the thread at hand, it seems more than a little ironic -- even ridiculous -- that someone who (allegedly, if you insist) did not want to live is, in this thread, suggested as one whose case should "light the way for people to not lose faith in their continuing effort to battle the spirits of darkness that prevails in the culture of death."
Yes, there is a culture of death. I just don't see it in this case. It boiled down to "he said, she said" and, when all is said and done, the court decided the spouse (scoundrel that he is) speaks when one cannot speak for herself. That is as it should be. Assuming Terri's enjoying the beginning of eternity in heaven, I don't have to wonder if she'd rather still be in hospice care.
