Is it proper to use the word "reign" with respect to the Pope? Just a question from a Catholic n00bie.

I would think it is a proper term to use. The Pope is the ruler of Vatican City, which is sovereign country, and he rules as a monarch. Also, he is the leader of the Catholic Church, an institution that is clearly hierarchical.
