Hurricane Rita is due to make landfall at Texas late on Friday night into Saturday morning.
Padre Pio, now a saint, is one of the greatest intercessors of our time. Please pray for his assistance in petitioning God for His mercy upon those who live in the path of Rita.
Also, remember St. Rita, patroness of hopeless causes, much like St. Jude.
Amen.
When my father-in-law was a young man, he was very devout (as he was for the rest of his life). He was an altar boy. One morning he went to Mass a little early in order to spend some time in prayer before the service.
He was surprised to see a Priest already there as he was early, but he hurried up and helped the Priest put on his vestments, and get ready. When they were finished, the Priest turned and offered his ring to be kissed, and my father in law kissed it with great devotion. Then the priest left.
As my father in law went back to his pew, the Nuns whispered excitedly to him that the priest was none other than Padre Pio. He was known for bi-location.
My father in law was very modest about this story, but it was known throughout the family. And he was a man of very great integrity.

thank you so much for this story!
Dear Ventana;
We were talking about Padre Pio last night and my b.i.l. shared this neat story about Padre Pio, which I thought you might like to hear, because I know you like him. I looked up in the old threads to find you.
Here's my story: This is a true story, told to my brother in law by the lady involved.
she really loved Padre Pio and wanted to meet him very badly, and since she was Italian, she was granted a meeting with him ( he would meet with a handful of people every day).
When she got through the line and met him she told him,
"Father, I most of all want to know God."
"What's stopping You ! " He exclaimed loudly.
Then, she bowed her head and asked for his blessing.
As she raised her head after the blessing, she looked at Padre Pio and instead saw Jesus Christ Himself.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
