(Greece, NY) 11/07/05-- Over the weekend, vandals painted hate language on the outside of Lakeshore Community Church in Greece for the second time in less than six months.
Associate Pastor Herb Lawrence said that the church serves as a polling place Tuesday, and Wednesday, the Red Cross is scheduled to hold a blood drive there. Strangers will enter the church and see the hate messages because there just isn't enough time to remove it.
Facility Manager Bob Edwards was the first to find the hate paint early Sunday morning, when the paint was still wet.
The church is a bit isolated, which makes it an easier target than some others.
Edwards said, "It's sad because these people need help. They're not doing it just for kicks--they need help."
In July, similar anti-gay and anti-Semitic messages were sprayed on the walls of the recently-built evangelical church. This time there was more detail and drawings.
Now that the church has been struck twice with hate messages, members are moving fast on a plan to add security.
Greece police will also be patrolling the area more often. Theyre asking anyone who may have seen anything to call their tip line at (585) 581-4016
The pastor said, "The people who did this are those we're trying to reach.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (585) 423-9300. Callers don't have to give your name and could get a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest.
Rochester had some vandalism not too long ago at St. Theodores, likly unrelated as they caught the perps who did that.
This church is a big saddleback type, set way back from the road. I grew up in Greece......it has its share to lost youth.
it wasnt just a few words here and there - it was several cans of paint, all over the exterior brick
the only saving grace is that the purchase of this much paint will show up somewhere
ping
Even they don't deserve anti-semetic graffiti.
I'm not very up on the Rochester megachurches; they any good? I know in Buffalo, there's one or two I'd consider pretty good.
Brother, I'm STILL looking for an Evangelical Church to join, but all we can find are Methodists, Baptist, Seven Day Adventist [sp?], Assembly of God. No Evangelical??!
Oh well, just keep watching Joel Osteen until we do :>
Well, since the paint was still wet, it should be easier to clean up.
A very astute and Christian observation!
My friend, there is only 1 evangelical church here (and several actively moving in that direction!)
In rochester ? - I invite you to join us
where specifically ? - Free Methodists consider themselves evangelical as well
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding - when I said 'there is only 1 evangelical church here' - I mean where I live!
Our small church has suffered graffiti too. Not quite this anti-Semitic however.
LOL--a church on wheels--Love it!
The leftist term "evangelical" whatever is very much perjorative against actual Christians--kinda like "have you stopped beating your wife yet."
Any Christian who calls themselves "evangelical" has painted themselves a certain way to the world--which won't cause too many to tear down the doors to get saved, ya know?
