Felicity: An American Girl Adventure, the second WB movie based on a doll, was weak with 4 million viewers, below the network's typical Tuesday and the 6 million who tuned in for last year's Samantha movie.

TOPICS: Current Events; General Discusssion
KEYWORDS: americangirl; boycott; dolls
Quite a dramatic drop in viewership from last year. There must be some connection between the drop in viewers and the recent news linking the American Girl Doll company to abortion and lesbianism. But I have not seen any link mentioned anywhere. It would help if some of the Catholic and pro-life blogs picked up on this.

My daughter asked for Molly this morning. I don't know if she did it accidently or connected Pearl Harbor to her.

I would love to reinforce that historic connection and buy her the doll along with the book series.

It will not be under the Christmas tree though.

[Life-Update, Dec 5, 2005]

Dear Pro-Life Friend,

I'm happy to report that our presentation of oral arguments before the Supreme Court last week went very well. The justices seemed to realize that NOW's claim -- that they somehow missed something the first time around -- is pretty specious. Nothing is certain before the decision is released, but we feel very good about it. You can read more about the oral arguments here:

http://prolifeaction.org/#scotus

Also, I wanted to let you know that we've just delivered 36 pages of Boycott Pledges to the American Girl company. We've received pledges from 45 states and several foreign countries. The states we haven't heard from yet are Montana, Washington, Oregon, Nevada and West Virginia, so if you are in one of those states -- or any state! -- please sign the Boycott Pledge today:

Also, we have heard from a company insider that our protest is having a dramatic effect, despite American Girl's public statements; we learn that phone sales are way down from last year.

So please continue to write and call American Girl with your objections to their support for Girls Inc.

Copying this over from last thread. I don't think it got much views:

I've been a poster to these Girls Inc./American Girl threads. Since I've been posting to these threads, I've been getting mail bombed with phishing, porn and scam mails.

I've notified appropriate servers, Girls Inc. (no reply), Mattel, and American Girl.

Mattel and American Girl's responses are below:

Mattel:

xxxxxx if you could explain how this has anything to do with Mattel, I'll try and help. I've forwarded your information to our legal department.

Regards, Jules Andres

American Girl:

Dear XXXXXXXXXX,

We are sorry to hear that you have been receiving these types of
e-mails. We are a little confused why you contacted American Girl about
them.

Where American Girl and Girls, Inc. do share the mission for girls to be
their best, they are two completely separate entities that do not share
any technical infrastructure. We also have no professional relationship
with Pay Pal since we do not accept it as a valid payment method at
American Girl. We are not at all familiar with IQuest Internet LLC.
After looking through your sample e-mail, there isn't anything in it
stating American Girl at all.

XXXXXX, we hope Girls, Inc. and Pay Pal can provide you with whatever
assistance you need to get this stopped. It appears to be an example of
"phishing" for your personal identification. If that turns out to be
the case, Girls, Inc and Pay Pal may not know their names or their
equipment are being used for this purpose, which could make responding
to you quickly rather difficult.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have some ideas how I can
help you as a representative of American Girl. I personally received an
e-mail nearly identical to this about 18 months ago at my home address,
but I only got one. I completely understand why you want this to stop.

Sincerely,

Sean Reynolds
Manager Customer Service
American Girl

No so-called "American Girl" dolls will be coming into our home. Not until they clean up their act.

Thanks for this information.

I'm waiting for the drop in sales info to be posted.

All, another poster had given the company, VisionForum, as a reasonable alternative....it is a good one.

Let's make Vision Forum very rich.
