" I appreciate your courteous tone, and will return it with the utmost of respect."

Thank you, Whispering out Loud, I appreciate your saying that. I see that there is a discussion about the title "Mother of God." In this case, when we speak about Mary, we are really speaking about Jesus and the mystery of Salvation. Scripture tells us that Mary was the Mother of Jesus, and we hold that Jesus is God, so from our perspective, that would make Mary the Mother of God.

It does not mean that Mary created God or that Mary somehow preexisted God. We recognize that Mary is a purely human creature, created by God. However, we recognize that God sent His son, born of a woman, to ransom us so that we might receive adoption as sons, and therefore heirs. So Mary was created by God, but was also the human mother of God, Jesus Christ.

I understand that you have no intention of separating Christ into two persons, or in somehow denying that he was both fully man and fully God. I think that the concern by several persons here is that the rejection of the title, "Mother of God" would imply that you do not see Christ's Humanity and Divinity as fully united in one person, or that you perhaps believed that Christ did not have a human will.

Once again I appreciate your tone. My only concern is that there are alot of Catholics in the general sense that put way to much emphasis on Mary as more than just a woman blessed by God, and I think it has alot to do with the title, "Mother of God"
