Suzie, forgive me, but you don't have a clear understanding of the overwhelming appitite of child sex abusers. One pervert can easily be responsible for molesting hundreds of kids - as many as they can get away with - they will not stop themselves.

Madam Law was abetting this by moving them from church to church and hiding their crimes which amounted to abetting their crimes. He is either the stupidest man in the history of the church or he is a knowing and willing participant in helping along the molestation. He should be in jail as the leader - like a madam in a whore house - arranging the encounters. For years Law did this to children. I am shocked they took him to Rome.

Cardinal Law wasn't in Boston for most of the time that the abuse was happening. It mostly happened under his predecessors, Cushing and Medeiros. Yes, he admitted he was too Pastoral to his priests, when they returned from being treated by the psychiatrists who pronounced them ready to be put back into service, but he didn't break any laws. Believe me, if he had, the Attorney General would have been all over him like white on rice! He WANTED to put Law in jail, but there was nothing with which he could charge him. Law didn't obstruct justice, because the state hadn't charged these priests at the time. In the cases of Geoghan and Shanley, they were actually protected by their Democrat cronies for quite a while. The Boston Globe used to write glowing stories about Shanley and his work with 'street kids', een as they knew that he was one of the founders of NAMBLA in Boston!

I do have an understanding of serial child molesters. I know that they cannot be rehabilitated. Everyone knows that NOW, but back in the 80's and early 90's, the psychiatrists were still proclaiming them 'cured' and sending them back to their positions. These were the professionals on whom Law and other Bishops relied for guidance.

The biggest mistake the Bishops made was allowing it to happen with the same priest more than once. They sent some of these priests back several times for 'treatment'. In my opinion, if it happened a second time, the priest should have been defrocked and locked up for a LONG time!!
