I wish I could find a Crucifix that is based on the wounds of Jesus as shown in the Shroud and Sudarium.

Holy Shroud Crucifix

Why This Cross is Different! The physical proportions of the Lords body as well as several details of the passion, such as the placement of the nails, the left foot over the right foot, the lance wound and the crown of thorns are based on the Holy Shroud of Turin.

There are several online religious goods stores that sell the Shroud Crucifix. Do a google search to locate them.

Thanks, NYer. I'm imagining one with a more realistic corpus. Are you familiar with the Spanish baroque style crucifix? The style is similar to the Italian masters like Caravaggio, but the Spanish style is more intense.

The shroud shows Jesus was scourged mercilessly, His face was beaten, that His hands were bound while He carried the cross and that His knees and shoulders took the impact of His falls and the weight of the cross. It must have been gruesome.

The body would be positioned more like the picture in your post #20 here:

(I hope no lurkers are offended by that description, but a crucifix like that would help me meditate on all that Jesus did for me.)
