Forgive this vanity post , but I received this in an email and I think it is important for Catholics to see. Please support this protest.

Ave Maria, Regina Coeli!!!

Calling all faithful Roman Catholics devoted to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of the Word Incarnate, Jesus Christ God and King, to a prayerful protest and act of reparation for the blasphemous NYC off-Broadway :

Mary, Like a Virgin: A Divine Musical Experience
Dillon's Lounge, 254 W. 54th St.
By Eva Sandoval

Schedule: May 4, 2006
(In front of the Theatre)

This event is sponsored by the Priestly Order of the Society of Saint Pius X and will be led by our pastor, Fr. Gerardo Zendejas. We will pray as many Rosaries as possible to make reparation for this heinous mockery of the Immaculate Mother of God. Please be a witness and make the necessary sacrifices to make these acts of reparation.

NYC and the USA are on the verge of a great chastisement for these crimes against the Immaculate Mother of God. These sins, more than anything, cry out to Heaven for vengeance. Remember that these blasphemies outweigh the sin of abortion!!! We are talking about offenses against the Immaculate Conception!!!

For more details please contact Fr. Gerardo Zendejas at:

SAINT IGNATIUS RETREAT HOUSE
209 Tackora Trail
Ridgefield, CT 06877
Tel: 203-431-0201
Fax: 203-431-0202

It doesn't matter whether you support the SSPX or not, if you are Catholic then take up some courage to protest these violent crimes against the Immaculata especially in the month of May!!!

Read the blasphemous review!!!

WARNING - HIGHLY OFFENSIVE

The spangly blue and white robes of her "Salvation Armani dress" plunge to showcase her bosom and are cut high at the thigh to reveal shapely gams; she belts popular song parodies, quaffs from a sacramental cup in between wry jokes and stores half-eaten snacks in a basket holding Jesus' childhood artwork. This is the Virgin Mary - brought to you by drag artist "Mimi Imfurst" Braden Chapman for a lounge act "confession." Sound just warped enough to work? Well, it certainly is warped, if the aforementioned bosom didn't clue you in (for those who like their Mary praised in novenas and crowned with May flowers, you've been warned). But is it divine? Yes and no. The show's concept is the star here, long on tantalizing premise but a little short on substance. The parodies range from the expected take on 'Like a Virgin' (the choruses punctuated by self-satisfied 'Pop!'s) to a play on 'Hey Ya' ('Shake it like a Passover Seder'), numbers which were sometimes funny, but I like a little more from my blasphemy; I'd hoped for more lyrical wit, more energy, more of the revelations hinted at in the press release. The tell-all feels incomplete, touching on a lust for fame and food but focusing mainly on Mary's pact with God and love for "Joey" when there's potentially much more Virgin to explore (a Jewish mother's rage against the Pharisees, perhaps?). Still, this is a fun show - light, twisted and sometimes inspired. The lounge's bar can only help make it sweeter.

Mary, Like A Virgin: a divine musical experience After 2000 years of praise, idolization, and expectation, the girlfriend of God and the mother of Christ is ready to tell her side of the story. Mary, Like a Virgin is a 90-minute tell-all confession by the Virgin Mary herself in an evening of forgiveness, family values, and a flawless figure. Through song and story, both legend and perceived reality, Mary shares the sometimes hazy details of her relationship with God, her adventures with Joseph, the deliverance of Christ, the aftermath of his death, her struggle with eating disorders, and a life in show business.

Usually blunt, always funny and sometimes inappropriate, Mary is a tour de force now forced to tour. Her music surpasses genre and decade as her repertoire includes pop, rock, musical theatre and rap. This new production of Mary, Like a Virgin is sure to question the strictest of beliefs and ask audiences just how well they know the people they pray to.

And, of course, it opens in May. Satan knows exactly what he's doing.

I think prayer about this is appropriate. I think a protest in front of the theater just advertises for these slime balls.

Actually, theater owners hate protests. Many people hate controversy, and if they see the protest, they're often inclined to turn away.

If it is a big enough protest to garner news coverage, then people will come to see what the fuss is about.

I doubt that many theater goers are going to "turn away" from a show that they came to see.

This is good to know. I too had some concern about giving this more publicity. Does anyone know if The Catholic League has said anything about this?

Imagine what would happen if these same folks tried to do a disparaging play about Mohamed.

Maybe we could get the Muslims stirred up about this because Mary has an important place in Islam too. They can do what we can't because we're nice Catholics.

On a more serious note, the Orthodox should be equally offended, considering the importance of Mary to Eastern Christianity.

I am willing to BET that this disgusting piece of trash is the product of some depraved mind who is in the grips of that sin the cries out to heaven for vengeance.

It has all the earmarks of an unrepentant sodomite.

That seems about right, from the review:

Look at the New York Times bestseller list for last Sunday. Attacking what people believe about Christ is the latest flavor.

What do you mean by that? Was the play postponed? Were the protesters mainly people from area SSPX chapels, or were there others?

The place is a dinner/theater nightclub. There was no show, the place emptied out because we were there. Fr. Zendejas said the owners were going to blast their sound system in retaliation, but the police would not let them.

There were many more people than the pictures show. Most of them were from SSPX chapels in PA, NJ, NY, and CT, but there had to be others not from SSPX chapels, I just don't know how to tell how many were from SSPX chapels and how many were other Catholics.

Were there any news media? I did a quick news search, and nothing turned up. If there was no show, you'd think the owners would notify the media.
