It doesn't matter to me what he said, all that matters is what the Word of God says. If I can't back up what I believe with Scripture, then I will be forced to change my belief.

Why do you find it so hard to believe that someone would want to use only the Bible to determine their beliefs?

I see you have bought into the denominational propaganda. It's sad really.

Not hardly. I was raised in a more strict sect than yours. they claimed to be founded by Christ and followed the bible exclusively. They were so good at hiding their founders that it took me 40 years to find their names and histories, then it all broke loose.I had been out of that sect 15 years when I found the names.

I am confident in my beliefs and I have no problem defending them. I am a member of the body of Christ, and I am thankful for that. I appreciate that people in the past sought to use only the Bible as their basis for doctrine, and I agree with them as long as they agree with the Word of God.

Mark 16:9

I know I know... You are gonna go in deep details about greek and such. I really don't care the verse says "on the first day of the week Jesus rose" (RB rough translation)

But its not what I don't understand about the bible that causes me problems but what I do understand and don't do that causes me the most problems.

HE is Risen and that is why I worship Him. If I believed that the first day of the week was on Tuesday then I would gather with like minded believers of Jesus Christ My Lord and worship HIm on Tuesday.

My friend...if I may address you as such? Here in lies the problem. We are no where in scripture told to worship on the "first day of the week". The Lord instructed throughout the Old Testament to worship and keep holy the (seventh) Sabbath. The reason it is not specifically addressed one way or the other in the New Testament....The Apostles did not anticipate a controversy because they still observed the Sabbath, as did the early Church, well into the fourth century.

As I have indicated in a few other posts on this thread, the Greek has no punctuation....so I can also recite Mark 16:9 as [Jesus now having risen, early on the first day of the week appeared first to Mary Magdalene........etc.]

The only scripture that specifically talks about the time sequence of the resurrection is Matthew 28:1 and as you can see six of the eight translations say....either "Late on the Sabbath" or "The End of the Sabbath". This is the original Greek. And it says the same....Late on the Sabbath and in verse 6 you will see that it says (past tense) He is risen! The reason for Sunday observance is always....."That is the resurrection Day!" Now you can see this is simply not true.

But its not what I don't understand about the bible that causes me problems but what I do understand and don't do that causes me the most problems.

Been there, done that. Blessings to you and yours.

I gave you the sequence of the resurrection events in post #166. If there is an error in that post please show me what it is. Matthew 28:1 does not mention the resurrection, just the visit of two women to the tomb.

God did lead many judges, kings, and prophets to kill. I don't think He ever led anyone to murder.
Considering that Jesus is from Solomon and Solomon is the son of David & Bathsheba, with whom David committed adultery, we must assume that God either planned it or that God created this world knowing it was necessary to fulfill His plan.

Let me re-phrase the question:

If someone is a Christian, and has the indwelling of God's Holy Spirit, would the Holy Spirit ever lead the person into breaking any of these commandments in mind, spirit or action:

Exo 20:12 Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Exo 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.
Exo 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Exo 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.
Exo 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Exo 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

No.

Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (iniquity=lawlessness, btw)
