The headline says she called the Pope a Nazi. The story seems to infer that it was a character, and, therefore, not necessarily a statement of her opinions. Now I'm hearing the show contains both monologues and skits. If she said it in the monologue, than I guess the story merely misled me, but the general tone of the story IS, in fact, justified, and sorry for all the ruckus. If she said it in character, it might demonstrate tasteless choice of material, but it is entirely a different thing that making a statement that she believes the Pope to be a Nazi.
The title of this thread is the actual title in the linked article, which is the correct procedure for posting. If an additional remark would help, let me know and I'll add it in paranthesis.

If she said those things about the Pope then, at the very least, she has no problems with that portrayal of him. Were it called on me in my job to make light of the Eucharist, I would refuse.
