Her voice did not improve when it changed (girls' voices do 'change', just not as dramatically as boys'). The switch to a pop style is also not appropriate for her voice quality. She should have stuck to the "English sound" (straight tone) for which her voice is more suited.

The decline in quality is probably also a function of overuse, too early. Pity.

My paternal grandmother ruined her mezzo voice singing tenor (good tenors are hard to find). I'm not a mezzo, more of a contralto, so singing tenor doesn't do me any harm. I also don't have anything like the voice my grandmother - or Charlotte Church - had.
