That was a pretty selective history itself. It is not nearly so simple as you report. There were Christians, Jews and Muslims living in Palestine before the Balfour Doctrine. For the most part they got along in peace. When, however, the Exodus of European Jews turned into a flood of people, the British desperately tried to find an equitable solution to what was being seen as an invasion by the non Jewish residents. Not all immigrant Jews settled on kabutzes in the desert. Many extremists became terrorists and attacked both Arabs and British soldiers. British soldiers were lynched and the British facilities in the King David Hotel, along with the rest of the hotel, was blown to bits in what can only be described as terrorism. Two former Israeli prime ministers trace their roots to this atrocity. It is true there were terror attacks on Jewish communities, but neither side has clean hands in this episode of history.
