"evangelical Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Lutherans, Methodists, and all others for whom their 'banner over me is Love.' "
I notice that he doesn't include Baptists, Mennonites or non-denominational churches either...for shame. Hah! Those who are with us know their "banner over me is Love."
I've heard Zahl speak in person; if ever there is a scholar who cared about history, especially that of Augustine, Wycliffe and Hus (those last 2 burned by an "ancient church") it is Zahl.
Dr. Zahl knows, teaches and applies more universal catholic history than you'll know in a lifetime.
It is nice to hear that Reverend Zahl is so erudite. However, it does seem (from a non Calvinist perspective) that some of his language places undue emphasis on protestantism at the expense of common elements of Christianity and that theologically and liturgically, the churches omitted are much closer to orthodox Anglicanism than are some of the churches Zahl has listed.
