Catholic ping!
More speculation, more prognostication, more attempts at telepathy.
Here's hoping that you're able to offer your first Mass according to the Missal of Pope Pius V (if you wish to do so).
French poll shows support for traditional Mass
The bishops say "Non, non.....".
The people say "Oui, oui.........."
Too funny.
Bump!
my question is why does anyone care what the
French think?
Is anyone else here watching the USCCB Conference? Among other things, they are considering approval of an infamous statement on the Iraq War.
*************
They're Catholics, and this is religion, not politics. :)
If they simply went by Mass attendence in France the ouis would have it.
Is it on EWTN?
bump for later

Well thats true but it seems the French take delight in apposing everything eveybody else wants.
Yep, have it dialed in.
If you are watching it, I hope you offered it up!
I am actually probably more in the "reform of the reform" camp myself today (who knows what tomorrow will bring?), but one question that strikes me about the French bishops' objections to the TLM is this: are they trying to set policy for the whole Church on this, or just for France? If the former then I will be plenty unhappy, because it would not be necessary for the "unity" that the TLM opponents keep talking about (remember the "Agatha Christie Indult" in England and Wales, for example, or the fifty or so different options for celebrating the normative (Pauline) Mass, or the different applications of norms such as married clergy in the Byzantine Catholic Church in the US as opposed to the old countries? Not to mention you should look at the USCCB site and search for "unity of rite"--you will be interested by what you find), and so would be just a case of one set of folks imposing their will on the rest of us. If the latter, well, too bad for the Frecnh faithful who might be brought closer to God by means of the TLM than the current liturgy, but as an American, I guess I could live with that situation.

But of course. That's the very definition of "French".

I just wasted a weekend at an ArchDiocesean Pastoral Assmebly. You would have thought that the single greatest threat to the Church was enforcing immigration laws. Followed closely to our presence in Iraq. Not a word about Catholic suffering through out the world, but lots of snide comments and misrepresentations of issues I am informed on.
St. Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney, Cure d'Ars pray for us, pray for the Bishops of France and the reconversion of France and Europe.
Amen!
