Then it's reintroduction is probably not accidental, nor is it a bad thing, and quite possibly a stick in the eye of some of the "progressive hippie nuns" (re: nuns who think they ought to become priests) to have come out of the 60's and 70's.

I thought that it may have had some regional implications. The nuns that taught me, Sisters of St. Joseph in the Philadelphia area, used "taking our vows".

We have one sister that has come out of my parish and another (just out of high school) who I believe was still discerning. Both young women are what I always imagined nuns to be, not some of the left wing propagandists that I hear about these days.

I think this is good news for the Catholic church.

The 60s and 70s were, in part I believe, a shakeout of the orders that returned the nuns to the world who didn't belong in cloister. It was a burden for those who stayed and had no backup as they aged, though.
