Members of the church once led by evangelical minister Ted Haggard met Tuesday to elect the members of a committee that will help choose his successor.
Members of New Life Church elected three men and three women to join the churchs three most senior staffers on the committee, including Haggards temporary replacement, Ross Parsley, church secretary-treasurer Brad Fallentine said in the announcement.
The committee will recommend a candidate to replace Haggard as senior pastor to the churchs overseers board. If approved, the candidate will be asked to preach at the 14,000-member church for three weeks and then the whole congregation will be asked to take a final vote on whether to hire that minister.
Fallentine said each person attending New Lifes first membership meeting was asked to vote for one man and one woman. In addition to Parsley the other members of the committee are: John Bolin, Lance Coles, Gary Larson, Thelma Miller, Mary Napier, Brian Newberg, Beverly Pegues, and Joseph Winger, the churchs prayer pastor.
Mark Foley?
At least they didn't pick a focus group to select a committee to choose a panel to look for a successor...
One of my now-bankrupt competitors managed to do exactly that.
Best wishes to them.
