Jesus Christ chose to inject Himself from His place inhabiting eternity into our created reality. The Holy Spirit overshadowed a virgin Jewish girl named Mary who lived in Nazareth over 2000 years ago, to become God in the flesh, in the person of the Son. He lowered Himself in unfathomable ways, by laying aside His eternal attributes in order to demonstrate, by example to all mankind, how to perfectly relate to the Father. Emmanuel, God with us.
When one takes a moment to consider the fact that the Creator of our entire universe chose to leave eternity for 33 years, in order to right the wrongs committed by all of mankind, it boggles the mind. An all powerful, all knowing, all present God deciding to personally become one of us in order to demonstrate His perfect Love, Justice and Grace toward His special beings that are created in His image. Love, because He sacrificed Himself. Justice, because He took the punishment we deserved. Grace, because none of us deserve by our merits, either His love or the justice He bore.
The religious rituals that were necessary to prepare and signal our Messiah’s arrival are no longer needed. As believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we now have access to the throne room of Almighty God. His shed blood has purified us of all our imperfections, giving us spiritual access to fellowship with the Father. The eternal God in the person of the Holy Spirit can now take up residence in the being of believers and teach us the will of God for our lives. It was better for Jesus to leave our reality, for the Father, Son and Holy Spirit can minister to all believers as Jesus did directly during His earthly ministry.
Therefore, Jesus Christ is about a desire for a relationship by our Creator. The Holy Spirit testifies to all men the truth of Jesus’ Deity, death on a cross and resurrection. Only those who rebel against the Holy Spirit by rejecting His testimony are not forgiven. Those who respond to His testimony receive eternal life in the presence of our Creator. Those who choose not to be forgiven by the only valid authorities prescribed avenue, are cast into a place where God chooses not to be present. Only God is good, and when a person is outside of His presence, there is no good.
The spiritual life we can now have as a result of the living God being within us, gives us access via the Word of God and prayer, to the abundant life we were created to have. Because we still live in a sinful world, and because we are swimming against the stream, the abundant life is not always material. The virtues of a truly close relationship with our Creator, is that of instilled Godly character from an obviously supernatural source.
The Reason for the Season is the reason the road to heaven is narrow. It is a single file path behind only one person. Jesus Christ! This time of year we celebrate the choice that God made from eternity, to become a man, and live among us so that we might know His Love, Justice and Grace toward us. Merry Christmas!
