Washington March for Life Events and Agenda

January 18, 2007

The annual March for Life activities begin this Saturday. The series of events culminate in the giant March for Life starting from the Mall very near the White House, and which then goes up Constitution Ave and ends at Capital Hill in front of the Supreme Court which was responsible for the judicial activist Roe v. Wade decision.

Following are links to various sites that list details of the activities from Saturday to Monday, the day of the actual March.

The largest events are the National Vigil for Life mass at the huge Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Sunday evening, the Rally for Life at the Verizon Centre (formerly MCI stadium) on Monday morning and then the March which follows soon after the Rally for Life.

For those unable to attend, some of the major events can be viewed live on EWTN TV which normally provides extensive coverage of the March for Life and related activities.

The youth mass will be on live at 11:00am EST on EWTN channel.

President Bush will be calling in via video link, from what I've read.

Thousands Expected At Anti-Abortion Events

Thousands of Roman Catholic young people are gathering at Verizon Center for the 12th annual Rally for Life and Youth Mass as part of Roe Versus Wade commemorations Monday. More than 330 bishops and cardinals are expected to take part in the Mass.

The event is one of several gatherings taking place Monday before the annual March for Life marking the 34th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. Other religious services are set for DAR Constitution Hall and some area churches.

Opponents of abortion rights have organized a huge march and rally for Monday afternoon. More than 100,000 people are expected to march down Constitution Avenue from the National Mall to the Supreme Court to call attention to the issue.
