NAPERVILLEThe Great Hall of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Naperville was filled Jan. 13 with posters propped up on easels likening an art exhibit. The silence, which typically permeates an art museum, filled the air in the room with approximately 5,600 square feet.
Interested onlookers read about the 120 eucharistic miracles described on 160 panels of the Vatican International Exhibition of the Eucharistic Miracles of the World. The accounts ranged from well-known visions such as Our Lady of Guadalupe to lesser-known ones such as the eucharistic miracle that occurred in 1412 in Herentals, Belgium. A variety of miracles, including healings and visions, have been attributed to eucharistic adoration.
Its one of those things where all this information seeing all these miracles presented to me right here it really hit me as I walked into the room. I had heard of a couple, I just didnt realize there were all these, commented Alex Gervacio, a parishioner of St. Mary Parish in West Chicago.
Sue Gorski, a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Naperville, acknowledged that she has been fascinated with eucharistic miracles for years, yet this display enlightened her on some that she had never known about. She added, This is overwhelming evidence of eucharistic miracles how anybody can not believe in it, I dont know.
More than 1,000 people visited the exhibit while it was on display Jan. 13-14, according to Margaret Gilmore. The member of St. Elizabeth Setons eucharistic adoration chapel core team of coordinators explained that they requested the exhibit to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the parishs eucharistic adoration chapel. Through e-mail correspondence after the event, she commented, Each and every (guest) came away with a new appreciation for the gift of the real presence of the Eucharist.
The visitors from across the Midwest were engaged in the stories that were shared in the traveling exhibition. The Real Presence Association, Inc., presented the exhibit. The Chicago-based organization is dedicated to spreading eucharistic adoration around the globe, explained Michael Mortimer, board member of The Real Presence, during a telephone conversation with the Catholic Explorer.
The Real Presence received exclusive permission from the Vatican to exhibit the display in the United States. The Real Presence has made three duplicate exhibits of 140 Vatican-approved eucharistic miracles available for exhibitionone on the East Coast, one in the Midwest and one on the West Coast. The Real Presence is also working on publishing a book about the miracles.
The Naperville display was one of the first for the exhibit in the United States; previous showings occurred in Kankakee and Chicago. According to Mortimer, the organization recently started to accept scheduling events from throughout the country through contacting Carol J. Seydel at 815-609-7331 or e-mail at trp@svs.com. More information about the exhibit is available at www.therealpresence.org.
Thanks
dude, somebody's got waaaaaaaay too much time on their hands...
John 6: 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
The Lord is explaining a spiritual reality and not a physical one. His own words say so in the very chapter that you cited, John 6.
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, animated with a desire to repair the outrages unceasingly offered to Thee, we prostrate before Thy throne of mercy, and in the name of all mankind, pledge our love and fidelity to Thee. The more Thy mysteries are blasphemed, the more firmly we shall believe them, O Sacred Heart of Jesus!
The more impiety endeavors to extinguish our hope of immortality, the more we shall trust in Thy Heart, sole Hope of mankind!
The more hearts resist Thy Divine attractions, the more we shall love Thee, O infinitely amiable Heart of Jesus!
The more unbelief attacks Thy Divinity, the more humbly and profoundly we shall adore It, O Divine Heart of Jesus!
The more Thy holy laws are transgressed and ignored, the more we shall delight to observe them, O most holy Heart of Jesus!
The more Thy Sacraments are despised and abandoned, the more frequently we shall receive them with love and reverence, O most generous Heart of Jesus!
The more the imitation of Thy virtues is neglected and forgotten, the more we shall endeavor to practice them, O Heart, model of every virtue!
The more the devil labors to destroy souls, the more we shall be inflamed with desire to save them, O Heart of Jesus, zealous Lover of souls!
The more sin and impurity destroy the image of God in man, the more we shall try by purity of life to be a living temple of the Holy Spirit, O Heart of Jesus!
The more Thy Holy Church is despised, the more we shall endeavor to be her faithful children, O Sweet Heart of Jesus!
The more Thy Vicar on earth is persecuted, the more will we honor him as the infallible head of Thy Holy Church, show our fidelity and pray for him, O kingly Heart of Jesus!
O Sacred Heart, through Thy powerful grace, may we become Thy apostles in the midst of a corrupted world, and be Thy crown in the kingdom of Heaven. Amen.

no kidding...
Can anyone tell me if the Exhibit is being displayed in the New York area?
no idea--
NYer--would you happen to know?
However, there are a number of posts on this thread which do indeed "make it personal" so to everyone on the thread:
To all those who are using humor to challenge the claims in this article or in the replies: stop. As I have said before, if others posters don't think it is funny, I won't either.
However, this is an OPEN thread, so challenges can be made, even ridicule - but don't use humor to do it when the audience isn't laughing.
John Chapter 6
53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
64a But there are some of you that believe not.
I Corinthians 11
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
You left out verse 63
John 6: 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
Jesus says in this very passage that His words are to be understood as a SPIRITUAL REALITY and not a PHYSICAL REALITY.
He says so.
Spiritual is not SYMBOLIC, ALLEGORICAL, METAPHORICAL, OR SIMILAR.
Spiritual is REAL and is, in fact, the ULTIMATE REALITY.

Love, not ridicule, conquers all things.
Please stop ridiculing the Blessed Sacrament and the Eucharistic miracles.
What? No Apocrypha?
Yeah, Harley! Show some respect!
Well, I suppose I could have been yelled at for my speellling. ;O)
I didn't leave verse 63 out - you had just posted it.
I used to think as you do, since I was brought up Presbyterian. Protestants use that one verse to discount the whole chapter, if they discuss it at all. Why did the Holy Spirit inspire St. John to write the whole entire chapter, only to nullify it with just a few words? It makes no sense.
Besides, look at the context in which this verse appears:
60Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
62What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64aBut there are some of you that believe not.
When He says "the flesh profiteth nothing," He is speaking in reference to "acending up to where he was before." He is asking the disciples if they would believe if they saw Him ascending into heaven, and is telling them not to base their faith on miracles they see (the flesh), but on what He has just said to them (His words which are life).
If He really meant that "the flesh profiteth nothing," then why did He come to earth in the flesh, suffer and die in the flesh, and then be raised with His resurrection body (in whose wounds He told Thomas to put his hands, and which also was hungry, as He asked for something to eat a couple of times). If the flesh really "profiteth nothing," then all He would have had to do was just come from heaven, as the angels do, and preach to everyone. But He didn't. He took our flesh upon Himself and gave His flesh upon the cross for our salvation, and continues to give His flesh for our salvation in the Holy Mass.
Another point to remember is that in verse 60 the disciples said "This is a hard saying. Who can hear it?" Then verse 66 says "From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him." Why did Jesus let them go if He was speaking only spiritually and not physically about eating His flesh? They wouldn't have been offended if He was speaking only spiritually, and they wouldn't have left Him if He was speaking only spiritually. But some of them were offended, they did leave Him, and He let them go. He did not call them back and tell them that they had misunderstood.
Then in verse 67 Jesus asks the twelve if they also would go away and Peter says in verses 68 and 69 "Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God." The twelve believed that because He was Christ, that He was giving them the instructions on having eternal life when He said "Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him." They did not find it offensive and they did not leave Him.
Godhead here in hiding, whom I do adore,
Masked by these bare shadows, shape and nothing more,
See, Lord, at thy service low lies here a heart
Lost, all lost in wonder at the God thou art.
Seeing, touching, tasting are in thee deceived:
How says trusty hearing? that shall be believed;
What God's Son has told me, take for truth I do;
Truth himself speaks truly or there's nothing true.
On the cross thy godhead made no sign to men,
Here thy very manhood steals from human ken:
Both are my confession, both are my belief,
And I pray the prayer of the dying thief.
I am not like Thomas, wounds I cannot see,
But can plainly call thee Lord and God as he;
Let me to a deeper faith daily nearer move,
Daily make me harder hope and dearer love.
O thou our reminder of Christ crucified,
Living Bread, the life of us for whom he died,
Lend this life to me then: feed and feast my mind,
There be thou the sweetness man was meant to find.
Bring the tender tale true of the Pelican;
Bathe me, Jesu Lord, in what thy bosom ran---
Blood whereof a single drop has power to win
All the world forgiveness of its world of sin.
Jesu, whom I look at shrouded here below,
I beseech thee send me what I thirst for so,
Some day to gaze on thee face to face in light
And be blest for ever with thy glory's sight. Amen.
I am amazed that so many Christians do not believe that something can be both "Spirit" and "real."
Is the Holy Spirit not real?
Is God, about whom we are told "God is Spirit," not real?
Do you think God is real?
