I think that the attitude of Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago is very appropriate here. Just because God CAN grant us something, He doesn't always choose to, yet He is no less powerful, nor less wise or good. We shouldn't pray because we want God to give us everything that we ask for, but rather because we have faith and trust in Him, that He will do what is best for us according to His Divine Will.

"Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago answered and said to king Nabuchodonosor: We have no occasion to answer thee concerning this matter. For behold our God, whom we worship, is able to save us from the furnace of burning fire, and to deliver us out of thy hands, O king. But if he will not, be it known to thee, O king, that we will not worship thy gods, nor adore the golden statue which thou hast set up."
