to me, that part is the best because we often make worship not what it should be. We mouth it but we don't really have it in our hearts. That's my interpretation anyway. Lip service but not heart service.
AMEN.
I love that one especially. We've made worship ME centered and not God centered. This brings me back to basics.
Amen, leenie! Good to see you back on FR. I've missed you. Hope all is well. Love, Maryxxx
Having worshipped in your church, I can say AMEN to all you've said. It's the same in our church. We have more babies and toddlers than most churches ever have. It's wonderful to see people actually wanting LARGE families again. I love it when our two churches get together.
We ALL have different tastes. I happen to love BOTH and there's room for both in any church service.
Not at all. You have to remember that the church in China has been and still is a persecuted church. they've been LIVING end times prophecy. they understand it ever so much more than the American church does. They KNOW what's going on. We don't. It's warfare music and very real to them.
That last audio clip from Kansas sounded awesome. I did notice something after listening to it several times though that make me wonder if it really is angels singing. At the beginning when you hear the regular human choir singing while the "angels" hold out that long note before harmonizing with them, you can hear a dominant male voice among the choir that sounds like the male soloist a little later, who according to the narrator would have been an angel (since the regular choir paused during the solo). If they are angels then it's definitely an awesome thing to be able to listen to but noticing what I did makes me think this is likely just a recording of a large choir of people who can sing really well. And as much as I would like to witness some of God's awesome theatrics I'm going to be very skeptical of something off the internet making such large claims.
Forgot to mention that listening to this has reminded me of the fact that there are all kinds of angelic activities happening all around us without our knowledge that would just knock us off our feet in amazement if we caught even a small glimpse of it. It's impossible to even imagine what heaven will be like when all the saved gather side by side with the angels before God's throne to worship Him forever. All I can say is that it's something to look forward to and is better than anything this world has to offer.
I agree. That's why I pointed out a particular modern song that inspired me to worship. I love several old hymns (Come Thou Fount, Be Thou My Vision, And Can it Be, It Is Well With my Soul), but there are several that do nothing to move me into that frame of mind. I have to say that more modern worship songs do just that. But the opposite is true for others, so I think you have to have a good mix of both, which our church does.
I also realize that worship is not about the person, but about God. However, most people need a little prompting (music) to get their hearts and minds away from the outside world and into a spirit of worship.
"Knock us off our feet" is right. I think I probably would faint in shock/fright if I were to witness something like that. It bothers me that I would be so overcome, but I really do think I would. Hopefully, if I ever did catch a glimpse of angelic activities, I won't be driving:-)
Our church has a fantastic organist and she plays hymns and old sacred music. It's so uplifting. Our worship team does mostly the newer worship music but it's uplifting as well. I don't think God is as concerned about what kind of worship music we use. It's our heart for worship that He's most interested in. People who have never done that should try it sometime. It's wonderful. Mxxx
Why?
I've been listening to these for about two weeks. The one from China gave me shivers up my spine and I started sobbing. Go figure.
