Chaput ended his Lenten message with a request for the faithful
to use the penitential season as an opportunity to restore the culture of life
in today’s society particularly by praying for an end to the death penalty in Colorado –

I'm not sure what god brother Chaput prays to;
but YHvH, the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
demands the death penalty for murder.

Genesis 9:5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting.
I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each
man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.

Genesis 9:6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be
shed; for in the image of God has God made man.
