I really need to order that DVD of the coverage from EWTN. As I have often said, the appearance of Pope Benedict on the balcony cemented my desire to join the Church. Father Neuhaus's commentary, along with Raynomd Arroyo, was simply excellent.

What was really amusing was watching the coverage on EWTN, then switching to CNN for a few minutes. The CNN people were flabbergasted that RATZINGER had been elected! They had convinced themselves that some liberal, PC type was going to be the choice and pretty soon the Church would "modernize." It really was pretty funny.

ROFL! Thank you! for posting this. I have always been a "news" junkie. Three years ago, I gave up watching the news for Lent. The transformation was immediate. I have never looked back. Since then, I have focused my energies on praying the Maronite Divine Office, reading Scripture and assisting my Maronite Catholic parish. That decision has drawn me into a more focused attention to my faith.

The mainstream media have NEVER understood Religion, much less how Pope's are chosen. Who will ever forget the moment Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger's name was announced from the balcony!

Once the msm is eliminated, it is so much easier to see the full picture. And THAT was delivered via EWTN with Raymond Arroyo and his guests, especially Fr. John Neuhaus. Frankly, it bothers me to have to pay $50/month for cable but is worth EVERY PENNY to have access to EWTN.
