How 'sic' of you to notice. Literacy appears to be another one of those false Catholic doctrines. Blame Saint Loyola for that one. Them Jebbies, scholars all.
So, I may have a different viewpoint than from those who were born into the church. But, I tend to look at a lot of the objections in this essay as traditions rather than things straight from the Bible. And, in the long run, I believe that these traditions enhance the overall spiritual experience.
In my short time in the church, however, I have not been exposed to a lot of the disagreements that this writer claims. Sure, many of the traditions are not in the Bible, but that doesn't mean that we don't follow it.
"It saddens me as well as justly angers me, during a special holy time of the year,"
Like the MSM finding the "Tomb of Jesus" every Lent?
I'm not a Catholic but even I know enough about Catholic belief to know that this aricle makes false statement after false statement about what Catholics believe.
Welcome home!
Tradition is important in the Church. That is one of the things that made sense to me. Our Lord preached and taught much more than was documented and he left us the Apostolic priesthood to teach us. God Bless the Bishops as they try, in this incredible morass of cultural bleakness, to carry the Way, the Truth and the Light forward for us and our children. God Bless the Vicar of Christ, the Bishop of Rome, Pope Benedict XVI!
I was taught long ago that if you didn't have anything nice to say to someone, not to say it at all.
I don't always follow that, but I think I can make an exception here and hold my tongue.
I will pray for you though; that your "Jack Chick"-like faith be changed and actually Christian.
God Bless you.
As for your post, I don't even know where to start, it is ignorant, infantile, libelous, out-right false, and so much more. I pity the author for his hate and venom and stupidity.
You lost me on the first paragraph of the first link...I'll only follow a pastor as long as he follows the bible...
I have the same Spirit within me that the church leaders have in them...I am told to 'search the scriptures' to know that I have eternal life...Not to blindly trust a bishop, deacon or priest...
Good Morning to you too. Defending the Faith, always a good way to start the morning. I think I'll watch a John Corapi talk that I TIVO'd now. Get me super secret orders from the 'Evil' Vatican about how to undermine true Christianity (reminds you of Jack Chick doesn't it).
?????
Because of my deep reading of the scriptures and the church fathers and history I decided that I had to be catholic to be in alignment with the church that Jesus founded. Your mileage may vary.
What did the Christians do for the first 300 plus years of The Church? There wasn't a canonized Bible yet, you realize that?
Many of these are reasons why I left the Roman Catholic Church and became a member of the open bible catholic church.
ROTFLMAO
"I have ideas on who really heads the Catholic church ... it sure isn't Christ."
Well, Christ thinks he is. That trumps you quite nicely.
By your church standards, I am not a Christian...So I'm not sure about this family thing...
God is going to deal with the muzlims and un-saved in short order...
We are ordered to fight them with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God...
You lost me on the first paragraph of the first link...How sad. You close your mind to the teachers Our Lord appointed. You can never learn with that narrow view.
Let's cut right to the chase, Sir. Please reveal in which book and verse of the Bible that the Canon of the Bible you read so avidly is stated. We have our entire lives to wait for your answer. You see, sola scriptura is, errr, well, it's unbiblical. Catholics know that.
Have a great Sunday! Best to you, Mrs. Tax! I'm going Mackerel fishing today!
Francis
