38. Canonical Hours- The Jews, Greeks and Romans divided the hours between sunrise and sunset into 12 parts. The Jews devoted certain of those intervals to prayer as described in the Old Testament (PS 119:164). The Apostles continued the Old Testament Practice. They came to be called Canonical Hours.
