Cardinal George Hospitalized After Fall
Fall Occurred During Blessing Of The Easter Baskets Event
(CBS) CHICAGO -- Francis Cardinal George reportedly slipped and fell at an 11 a.m. blessing of the Easter baskets event at St. Ferdinand Church in the 5900 block of W. Barry Avenue.
A spokesman for the Archdiocese of Chicago, Susan Burritt, confirmed that the cardinal slipped and fell on water that was on the marble floor of the church during the ceremony.
The cardinal was taken to Loyola Hospital in Maywood. The extent of his injuries are unkown.
There has been no word on what effect the cardinals injuries might have on his Easter mass schedule.

Cardinal George is 70. He is the first Chicago-born priest to become a Cardinal of the Windy City and City of Broad Shoulders.

Oh dear! Prayers for him, I hope it’s purely a precaution and he’s not badly injured.

Oh, my. “Safety first.” People don’t realize what a booby trap a little spilled water is. As for me, whenever I see a safety hazard in a public building or store, I report it immediately.
