Reading your treatise, I see that he never makes any mention of the books of Kings. In these books, God displays a clear pattern. Whenever a bad king rises up and begins to worship idols made from human hands, and burns incense in the high groves -- all worship not ordained by God Himself, the nation goes bad and nothing good befalls it.
When a good king rises up and does away with the profane worship, which includes making little cakes for The Queen of Heaven, making idols out of tree stumps, etc etc ,(God is clear on what "idols" are, whether you agree or not) then the nation finds itself on the right path again. This happens somuch, it really must mean something to God. If you believe God and not men, of course.

There’s no way you could have read that all already properly.

You forget there is no “nation” anymore. Remember what St. Paul said about Jews and Greeks?

Reading your treatise, I see that he never makes any mention of the books of Kings. There's 3 possibilities. You were speed reading; you read bits and pieces; or you didn't read it at all. There are 4 mentions of the books of Kings in Part I itself.
