Do you believe that if you commit a mortal sin you go to hell ?

"I saw a great light, with God the Father in the midst of it. Between this light and the earth I saw Jesus nailed to the Cross and in such a way that God, wanting to look upon the earth, had to look through Our Lord's wounds and I understood that God blessed the earth for the sake of Jesus."

Catholics do not understand that going to the scriptures can weed out false prophets, demonic visions and mental illness.

Here is what Gods word is on this

Jhn 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him]. What she saw was the "light bearer" Lucifer deceiving her, and they made her a saint for that .

Exd 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

1Jo 4:12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

Show where after his disciples died off, a library would become the teaching authority?

They were to make NEW disciples, not apostles. To this day there are new disciples being brought to the truth by the Spirit of God.

I'm sure a lot of people will be praying the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy in hopes that it silences you from pointing them to the scriptures.

That chaplet reads like a cooking recipe. If you chant these prayers somehow God is compelled to respond in a certain way. It makes YOU the Master and god the servant. It is (I know I am going to get slammed for this) WITCHCRAFT. Plain and simple.

No wonder Voodoo stemmed from Catholic tradition.

Flame suit donned.

Do you understand what you’re asking?
What fool makes an institution that doesn’t provide for its future? If the Lord has made His Church here on Earth, why would He not provide for its continuance?

He did and He does through the HOLY SPIRIT. God is not "some fool" He is sovereign over all things and he is the head of HIS church .

Eph 5:24 — Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in every thing.

Not the apostles, not the pope... Christ is the Head of HIS church and He is completely able to direct and lead it as He chooses.

Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence.

Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ:

It doesn’t say that the Lord (or Simon Peter either) went to the bathroom, but logic concludes that they did. This is grasping at straws. It is not worthy of serious debate.

If I said every time Peter went to the bathroom a soul was freed from purgatory you might want to know how often that happened.

Free will.
That says that the decision of the individual is decided by the individual. If you think that predestination is a viable doctrine, then you are in the vanguard of condemning a large portion of the human race to eternal death.

Mark what must you do to be saved? If you murder your wife tonight and never confess it will you go to hell?

Amen !

The problem is that they think the church is a building and rules and laws and tradition. They do not understand the church is all that are the children of God adopted at the cross of Christ

Are they less honored by God than the priests that molested children in their charge?

If any of y’all feel the need to say the rosary together or to offer up spiritual support for each other that way, why doesn’t one of you start a thread devoted to doing that? Make it a caucus thing, cuz to those of us who don’t do it, it *is* spam.

The have no answers, they have come up against the word of God and they have no where to go. So far Mary has not helped

Vain pepetitious prayers and spam are pretty much the same thing.

Jesus told us not to do it. God only needs to hear our prayers once! To repeat it over and over and over and over and over has got to be pretty irritating to the person to whom it is directed.

I do find it odd that people are told to do this in order to atone for their sins. So they are told to do exactly as Jesus told them not to do, in hopes that God will forgive them because they did some other act that God told them not to do.

Such bitter irony.

Spell check. pepetitious = repetitious. But then I don’t need to repeat myself

We’ve been told that praying to Mary is not required. If you’re told to say a Hail Mary for the sins that you’ve confessed, are you allowed to ask for an alternative for your penance?

Penances are almost always negotiable. I’d hate to try to explain to a priest why I didn’t want to say a decade of the rosary or something like that, though.

Don’t forget that, to us, a decade is more than just Lord’s prayer, 10 Hail Marys, Glory Be, and Fatima prayer. It’s also what “mystery” we’re meditating on. So, for example yesterday Part of my penance was a decade for the Lay Dominicans and I decided to meditate on the finding of the young Jesus in the temple and that kind of morphed into thinking about Jesus finding us wherever we are, and why we feel He’s missing when He’s not, and how we should look for him not only in Church but in one another, and blah, blah, blah.

Well maybe this will kill it:

Luke 11:27

And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

If you can't do something with your heart in it & you're going through motions, because you don't wanna have to explain it to a priest, aren't you kinda missing the whole point?
