In John 14:23, 'keep' means 'obey'.
I don't. The doctrine of the immortal soul is unbiblical. Eternal life is a gift of God:
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Man doesn't have eternal life. We were created mortal, out of elemental substances:
Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
We return to dust when we die.
