That would depend on how many legions of angels God has created. The Church is in this world but it is not of the world. Jesus could have been an earthly, militant, political leader if that had been God’s plan and was, in fact, expected to be by many. He had no military legions or divisions. The pope has the power of the Holy Spirit and that trumps all the divisions of the world.
I’m not Catholic, but I appreciate that the Pope and the Church leadership is sticking to what it believes, rather than water their faith down.
When we do the Prayer of the Faithful in Mass, I skip that line.
And the woman behind me changes the word "Father" to "Creator." I wonder what the Creed would look like (We believe...) if we all deleted portions that we didn't like? Maybe something like the Protestant churches.

I never imagined that it would be possible for this pope to outshine his predecessor. It would appear that is happening.
The next time I am at a Catholic bookstore, I think I will purchase the biggest picture I can of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, so I can give him proper worship. :o) He hee.

It’s actually a lower-case “c” catholic in the creed. Not Catholic as in Roman Catholic, but catholic as in universal. Of course when the creed was written, all Chrisatians were Catholic...

Jesus gave the keys of the kingdom of David to Peter alone. The keys represent the office of the vice-regent of the Davidic kingdom, as we see in Isaih 22. There was only one king of the House of David, and only one vice-regent. The vice regent actually wore a pouch around his neck which contained keys, which symbolized his office.
Isaiah 22:20-22"In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah. I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
Jesus is the eternal King of the House of David, and is "the power behind the keys."
Revelation 3:7"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open."

It is illusory to believe that ecumenism means defining everything down to the least common denominator. That may be the way to please the leaders of the Episcopal Church—who will, however, promptly throw up new barriers to unity such as woman priests and homosexual bishops. But it won’t work for Evangelicals, for instance, who have no more interest than faithful Catholics in defining their religion down to nothing.
This will offend only secularists who pretend to be interested in a more tolerant version of Christianity, when what they really want is for Christianity to disappear. It will not offend a Baptist, for instance, who is certain to believe that he possesses the truth, so it doesn’t matter what the Pope says. Except that, in a strange way, it’s better to have a Christian pope than some kind of liberal modernist pope, even if you still think he’s may be the Antichrist.

Correct. Catholic is Universal. It is ONE Holy and Apostolic Church.
