As I said, how hard can it be? Cub Scouts learn a new skit for every Pack meeting :-).

They seem to be implying that priests are incompetent, which is nonsense. They may be heretical (Yo, Mahony!), but they are highly educated professionals in their field.

The Boston archdiocese apparently hasn't heard about the motu proprio!

You know you're in trouble when your ordinary was at the meeting in Rome that discussed the motu proprio!

I don’t doubt that Mahony is worse than Hubbard, at least in the aggregate sense. But, pound-for-pound, there isn’t much difference. Hubbard, being in a smaller diocese, is easier to give the smack-down to by way of setting an example for the others. Leave room to “escalate,” and Mahony would be dealt with in due course.

The time for continued suffering of faithful and loyal Catholics is soon to come to a close here in the West. A balance point, between rash arbitrariness on the one hand, and fawning overconciliation due to considerations of “collegiality” on the other hand, is being discerned quickly by Benedict. He and his successor will have no trouble dealing with restoring the Church to at least a semblance of its former vigor, if present trends indicate anything. For the first time in a LONG time, I feel capable of simply waiting out the likes of Mahony and Hubbard! :-)

I can understand your pessimism, but just watch what happens when EWTN starts doing the TLM from Hanceville (and you KNOW they will!). There will be a serious demand for this Mass once the people see it unimpeded and unfiltered, coast-to-coast (actually, worldwide). There will be more than enough priests - especially young priests - eager to learn it. You’ll see...

Suffering as I do under his watch, I cannot say that Cardinal O’Malley is a “bad” man; he’s just clueless and way, way over his head. He should be released to seek lifetime refuge in a far-away monastery; he has no business playing a mere figurehead role “running” a major archdiocese via the misfeasance and malfeasance of his underlings in the chancery. God help him.

LOL! Did you see where he said he thinks he was invited to the meeting just to see what would be going on in the rest of the world — sort of an eccliastical CNN! Because it just has nothing to do with the US! And there’s no interest in New England (though he has turned down numerous requests).

Once they 'discover' that the TLM is 90 minutes in length, they will return to the NO, simply out of convenience.

If length is their concern, then such folks ought to like the "low" Latin mass even better than the Novus Ordo. The low Mass is typically over in about 35-40 minutes.

From what they hinted at on EWTN, the televised masses are all that the Bishops CAN control.

EWTN would be the perfect solution. Everyone gets it on cable. The cable companies can track our viewing. Sit on the TLM until EWTN can show it. Track the viewing.

Although, it may be really easy to play with those numbers.

In some way, I agree with Nyer. You can’t expect LifeTeen people to adore the TLM. We may find that people don’t like it. My hope is more to influence the NO back to reverence. Going to another city and finding the lounge act that is an excuse for the Holy Mass is very disheartening,

Get rid of the piano, the pop singers, the “lifting up” (look at ME!) for every response (like we have no clue when to respond), the daisy chaining for the Our Father and the usurping of the “hands extended” position by the laity. Let’s find a new use for the liturgical commitees, like maybe selling donuts for the building fund. The whole “we can do it better” idea, borrowing from anyone but classic Catholics, needs to stop.

That’s what I’m praying the TLM brings. Time will tell (or I will be at an Eastern Rite if we move to another city!)

“so let’s hope the next ordinary invites the FSSP or the Institute of Christ the King to the Diocese of Wilmington.”

What? And drain away current and potential parishioners from Mater Ecclesiae in Jersey??!!! sarc/off

I was hoping that the FSSP et al. would be able to move about and set up parishes freely now, but that doesn’t seem to be addressed specifically by the MP.

When I went back to my old parish a couple months ago, they all stood for communion. That was not the way it was when I left a couple years ago

I went to a church in Layfette, IN that did this as well. Is it a new thing? Why stand when the church has kneelers? I knelt as I think it is a privledge to be on my knees in front of our Lord, but I got a lot of stares.
