(As one of the debates between the network and Foley touched on norms for the televised celebration of the liturgy versus Dei/ad orientem, it's worth noting that Baker had granted ample provision for public celebrations of the "extraordinary rite" of the Mass in Charleston well before last month's Summorum Pontificum.)

This will have more impact than 500 Bishop's statements. Imagine a TLM on EWTN reaching billions of people!

Indeed! I believe it may well be the case that this one outlet, EWTN, may do more to revive the TLM than all of the other acts of implementation for the Motu Proprio put together. Just think! Once EWTN announces that it will broadcast the TLM from that glorious Hanceville site, the curiosity nationally and internationally will draw a sizeable TV crowd. For very many, no doubt, their initial curiosity will soon lead to heart-felt interest, and the Holy Spirit can take it from there. I believe that this will be the catalyst for many parishes around the country and throughout the world to petition for a TLM, and the movement will produce much good fruit almost instantaneously.

Mother Angelica was asked why she wanted to build at Hanceville, with a large chapel and plaza in an isolated setting. No one would come, it was said, in sufficient numbers to justify the size of the site. She replied that, though it may have been hard to see in 2000, the day would indeed come when the sacrifice and expense would be amply justified. If EWTN takes on the role of “satellite ambassador” for the TLM simply by broadcasting its reverent offering in such a beautiful setting as Hanceville, I can’t imagine a better way for her words to be fulfilled!
