I'd appreciate prayers for my younger son, Peter, age 10. He's been experiencing minor double vision for about a month, and has been seeing a specialist regarding this, who so far doesn't really know what's happening. Overnight, his vision worsened dramatically, and we'll be taking him to the doctor on an emergency basis in a little while.

What kind of "specialist" is this?

It is of vital importance that you get your child to the best University teaching hospital in your area [travel as far as is necessary], to the very best pediatric neurologist [or neurosurgeon] that you can find.

Do not mess around with hick, hayseed, podunk family doctors. Get to a University teaching hospital, and find the very best professor on their faculty.

And if he can't diagnose it, then find a better University with a better faculty.

And keep going until you end up at Harvard, Johns Hopkins, or Mayo.

PS: If the "insurance" won't pay for you to go straight to the best specialist [i.e. if they keep requiring that you see a family doctor or an internist], then tell the insurance company to go to hell.

GO STRAIGHT TO THE BEST SPECIALIST IN THE WORLD.

Do not mess around with generalists. Do not mess around with sub-standard doctors. Do not mess around with idiots in emergency rooms. Find the best specialist and go to him. NOW.

We’ve been to his pediatrician, and we’ve been told to take him to the pediatric emergency room at Johns Hopkins for tests.
