Taken during the beginning of the Canon of the Mass
On 29 September 2007, Fr. Paul Scalia, the son of Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia, offered a Missa Cantata of the "extraordinary use" of the Mass at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Alexandria, Virginia for Michaelmas (the Feast of Michael the Archangel on the traditional calendar). As far as I know, this is the first public "extraordinary use" Mass since the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum went into effect on 14 September.
Elevation of the Body of Christ after the Consecration of the Host.
Elevation of Precious Blood of Christ after the Consecration of the Wine.
Fr. Scalia during the procession at the conclusion of Mass.
St. Joseph.
Our Lady and the Christ Child.
St. Rita of Cascia.

Ah, now see, P, that’s what a Western Liturgy is supposed to look like; very nice!

As far as I know, this is the first public "extraordinary use" Mass since the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum went into effect on 14 September. Hmm, do you mean at St.Rita's? I think there have been many, many public Masses in the extraordinary form since Sept. 14th.

Yeah, that was clear as Mississippi mud. ;-) Thanks, I shall make that more clear.

Could you be more specific? Is the Extraordinary form said frequently at St. Rita’s? In fact is there a specific schedule?
The reason I ask is that I am developing a data base of all Traditional Latin Masses in the U.S. and Canada with a search function by zip code, city or state. I appreciate any additions or corrections that readers could make. There is a contact button on the top of the website and the address is:

Thanks!

As far as I know, St. Rita's is not going to have a regular "extraordinary use" Mass. The status quo for the Diocese of Arlington, in terms of Sunday Masses, hasn't changed too much, even with all the orthodox priests we have here. There will be developments in the near future though.
The next "extraordinary use" Mass at St. Rita's will be on All Soul's Day.

I attended this Mass and had no idea until I caught this post that it was Scalia’s son who was the celebrant. The Mass was just wonderful, it was worth attending just for the music, as the chanting was flawless.
