Oh, further note. If I recall correctly, the statue of one of the Greek godesses that was worshipped (I'm thinking Artemis, but I may be wrong) was thought to have originated from the sky, as was one to Ashtarte/Aphrodite Urania in Aphek. That earliest Artemis temple at Ephesus contained a sacred stone, probably a meteorite, that had "fallen from Jupiter."
