If a President believes that an unborn child is a person, they have a sworn obligation to uphold the Fifth and the Fourteenth Amendments.
And do what?
The President doesn't force decisions on his own. YOU may believe that the 14th and 15th Amendments accord personhood to the unborn, but that is not accepted by the majority in Congress, nor might I add, a majority in the nation. You and I may not like it, but this IS a nation of laws that everyone must obey. Roe v Wade is now precedent, and any law restricting abortion in any way is held up against it, and usually fails because we don't have enough justices on the Supreme Court to uphold the restrictions.
We need a President who has pledged to give us just those people for the Supreme Court. They will have the opportunity to overturn Roe, and this will send the matter back to the states. In a perfect world, we'd have enough votes in Congress to pass a Human Life Amendment, but we don't. We likely couldn't get it passed with the number of states needed. Time is needed to change hearts and minds.
What CAN be done, however, that can start saving babies immediately, is to allow states to pass their own restrictions without fear of the Roe blockade. I believe many states will pass restrictions not allowing abortion after the 3rd month. I also think there will be some that won't allow it for any reason other than reported rape or incest, or if the mother's LIFE is in danger from carrying the baby to full term. Some folks don't like this, because there will be some states that will allow abortion, however, I think that even in those states, there will be enough individuals to support restrictions so it can't be used as back up birth control. This will start saving babies immediately, as opposed to sitting around for years waiting for the HLA, and have babies dying every day.
