...on the east coast we had guys building bridges toward Geneva...
Falwell was, of course, one of the biggest names behind the "Christian Right" when it began back in the eighties. But that movement was started, intellectually, by "Geneva guys" like R.J. Rushdoony and Francis Schaeffer. Does anyone know if Falwell shared Ergun Caner's hatred of Calvinism?
That tends to be endemic to certain strands of Fundamentalism. Without some boogeyman to battle they are without a raison d'etre.
I find that's a common tactic among "evangelists" in the "independent fundamentalist" movement, along with shameless self-promotion. Have you heard of David Cloud? He was a missionary in Nepal, you know.

I recall him calling "particular redeption|limited atonement" a heresy, so I suspect the answer is "yes".
The Calvinists in the SBC didn't really re - find their voice until fairly late in Falwell's career (everyone had been busy fighting the liberals trying to take over the SBC before that), but yes, Falwell was hostile to Calvinism.
