Stations of the cross - Way of the cross
The Work of God Apostolate

Stations of the cross, Way of the cross, Viacrucis, Via dolorosa    *

Introduction

Lord Jesus Christ my God, I humble myself before your Presence. As I come to accompany you and your Blessed Mother on the way to Calvary, grant me to feel for you with the tender feelings that She felt. May these stations of the cross remind me of your love and of the price you had to pay for my sins.

Let us pray the Way of the Cross with a humble and contrite heart, after all it is because of our sins that Jesus had to die for us.

It is customary to say before each station:
"We adore you, O Christ and we bless you. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world."

After each station you say an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be.

To enter into the Spirit of the Passion, let us ask Mother Mary to help us live the Passion as She did:
Mother Mary, help me to see with your eyes, to hear with your ears, to feel with your heart and to understand with your wisdom. Help me to know the depths of the love of Christ your Son and the bitterness of your Immaculate Heart.

"Must it be either/or?"

I guess not if you can feed the hungry, treat the sick, clothe the naked, and visit the imprisoned from you knees..........

Actually it works out pretty well to do that during the week and then have the soup kitchen after an hour of prayers at Friday’s Stations of the Cross.

I should think Jesus would want us to be mindful of Him as we go about doing the things that Justice and Faith requires.

Good luck "putting the Beatitudes to practice" without the grace that comes from intimacy with God through prayer.

You'll do more "putting the Beatitudes out to pasture" than putting them to practice.

"Mary has chosen the better part, it will not be taken from her" -- Luke 10:42

If Jesus made time for a prayer life and his public ministry why shouldn't we? Unless you don't consider him worthy of imitating

The Stations are a wonderful devotion. Of all the Latin Rite services, I think its my favorite or maybe tied with Benediction. Thanks for the ping.

Let me answer your previous question with another question...

What is the greatest commandment?
