I'm not trying to start a row, I have no dog in the fight and Armstrong died in '86 (not to be confused with his renegade son Garner Ted, but that's another story). I've followed the schisms in Armstrong's WWCOG for over forty years - call it an amusing hobby, but I've never come arcoss this outpost of Armstrongism. Is the United Church of God comprised of followers of Tkachism and haters of Flurry's Philadelphia group who carry on the HWA banner or is this a Garner Ted offshoot? I did look on the "About" page at the UCOG site and saw that the church "began as a formal assembly in 1995" but there's not much to that breif "History". I'm just interested in who's behind recycling H.W. Armstrong's teachings without mentioning him. Who are you folks? I hope you can answer, but I won't get my hopes up.

United was begun by many who left the Worldwide Church of God after they abandoned biblical doctrine. It's the largest of the so called "splinter" groups that broke off Worldwide.

From UCG's website A Brief History Of United Church of God.

Many of the current ministers and members of the United Church of God were once members of the Worldwide Church of God, a nonprofit corporation under the leadership of Herbert W. Armstrong until his death in 1986. A subsequent unwarranted shift toward nonbiblical practices and beliefs led numerous ministers and members to leave the fellowship of that organization.
Concerned with uneven administrative practices of the former assembly, more than 100 ordained ministers developed a new administrative structure that was more directly accountable to members and the ministry.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
