"...nvolve your congregation in Earth Ministry. Ask them to support us by taking our Membership Challenge, and maybe you will win a special workshop for your congregation. And what better day to support our work by taking a special collection or shared plate offering? These congregational gifts are a significant source of support for our work.

The enclosed Celebration resource package gives you all you need to get started. As you celebrate Earth Day 2008, rejoice in the knowledge that you do so in spiritual community committed to the interdependent web of all existence.

In Faith,

Claudia Kern for the Board of Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth"

And I thought Earth Worship was just for Wiccans.

Wiccans are sane compared to unitarians.

Earth worship has been around for centuries. It is a pagan practice not limited to Wiccans. Radical environmentalists, such as Al Gore, are earth worshipers. The New Age Movement is involved in it. In ancient times, all nations outside Israel, and even many in Israel, were involved in earth worship.

Oh true. I guess I see the Wiccans et al as being forthright

about it whereas some of these others either don’t realise they are doing it or try to veil it.

I say this because Earth Day is fast approaching and
whenever I refer to it as Earth Worship Day some folks
react badly — it is a hate crime to cap on Gaia-ists

Agreed.

Unitardians seem to have an identity crisis but are to stoned to realise it.

And what better day to support our work by taking a special collection or shared plate offering?

I thought that's what the high priests of Gaia already do, when they pick through the recyclables. Clear glass, colored glass, #1 plastic, #2 plastic, and so on... the sacrificial system is firmly established.

Hashem required unblemished sacrifices, not leftover rejects and waste. Gaia is content with trash. Okay rinsed, sorted trash. But it's still garbage.

Will they be burying their offering in mother earth? That paper should go back to where it came from.....

Unitarians have always been pagans.

On the original Earth Day I was a senior in an International University in California. On Earth Day everyone who possibly could get hold of a car drove to school and parked everywhere including the lawns.

Of course, on Vietnam Awareness Day we all went to the beach, too.

P.S. If anyone would like to come and worship the Earth by hacking the frozen snowdrifts off the edge of our street so people who have to cross the street can do it without risk to life and limb, let me know and I’ll send you directions.
