I do not believe that Methodists teach that water baptism is essential for salvation (unless something has changed since I left the church 8 years ago).

Ok, good to know, thanks. How about infant baptism? They do practice that?

Or else wikipedia lied to me. ;)

Well, I was a Methodist for about 35 years and never did learn how I could be saved until a Baptist preacher told me. I’m not sure WHAT they’re teaching sometimes. I did look through a new Methodist hymnbook to find a song to sing at a funeral service, and could hardly find any good rousing hymn that I even recognized!
