Martin Luther wanted to be reconciled with the Roman Catholic Church to the day he died.. It was those that followed him that started Lutherism... or a "church"..

Martin Luther was like most of us, he wasnt too smart..
He probably would have been a democrat..

Well, the pope was pretty much at the mercy of the emperor, and Rome had been roughed up by Lutheran mercenaries employed by the emperor.
