You are being ‘pinged’ because I have seen your heart for prayer on one or more recent Free Republic prayer threads. This thread is for those interested in worshipping and praying for those who support our troops and our troops themselves. If this is of interest to you, please read on. If not, send me a private note to be removed from future ‘pings’. (I apologize I don’t know how to put a link for Add/Remove into my posts yet.)
I have only been blessed to be part of the FR community for a few months. I was drawn to get involved by the prayers I saw posted in a prayer thread for a wounded Marine last August who was not expected to survive. (BTW, he not only survived by the power of prayer, but is still recuperating.)
In September 2007 I came to Washington D.C. from my home in Northern California at the invitation of a FReeper active in the D.C. Chapter. One of the reasons I was coming was to bring a song the Lord had had me compose and record (full story at www.holyspiritpress.org/standup.html) to support our troops and encourage our nation to support them even though I am a housewife and mother – not a professional singer (you can listen to the song at www.youtube.com/user/ascendinworship )
The Lord made it clear I was to make the trip even though at the time He had not yet revealed all the reasons why. I knew I was to bring copies of the CD to give our wounded at Walter Reed, as well as to stand with GOE at a press conference to support Petraeus on Captiol Hill, to walk with other GOE members through the halls of Congress and to hand out copies of STAND UP in the various congressional offices to encourage a vote to continue to fund the War On Terror. In addition, I was to visit the wounded Marine who at that point still lay in a coma and to worship and pray with his family in his room at Bethesda for his healing.
However, as the plane began its descent to land at Dulles airport in D.C. I felt like the Lord whispered a message to me and I wrote it down. In part it said, “You are going behind enemy lines to bring ME and MY encouragement, hope and covering (through the addition of prayer and worship to their activism) to those who tirelessly fight My fight, but in their own power. Most of these are in their own power right now. Bring them to ME. Teach them to seek, listen and rely on Me, so I can impart the strategy, the only strategy which will defeat the enemy – MINE…I will send you the prayer warriors. Link the prayer warriors – the intercessors and worshippers…wit the activists…Show them how it has always been – praisers lead into battle. Worship is rewarded by release of the supernatural strategy which WILL lead to victory.
Since that September 2007 D.C. trip, one D.C. Chapter Freeper and I have indeed prayed almost every single Friday by phone to cover planned D.C. Chapter activities for that night at Walter Reed and the weekend in prayer. We also pray regularly for the recovery of our wounded warriors and for a growing faith base in our country (because though we support our troops and those who support them, we also understand God’s overriding objective in all things on earth is to restore as many as will come back to Him for all eternity!) This young lady and I will likely continue our coast-to-coast weekly prayer. However, God has now laid on my heart that it is time to broaden the worship and prayer cover for the activities of those who support our troops, our wounded warriors, our deployed troops and their families.
I believe the many of the prayer warriors He would have participate are right here on Free Republic. I believe you will know who you are.
Please pray if you are called to join in united worship and prayer for those who support our troops and our military. (And please ‘ping’ anyone else you believe He might be calling to get involved.)
The power of our worship and prayers cannot be underestimated. Surely for those who are called it is as important as physically being present at the event. And while many of us would like to participate physically and tangibly in as many as the troop-supporting events as possible, this worship/prayer can be done anyplace, anytime – including at the events OR from home! It is vital and critical work and it is an honor to be called to it!!
As you all know, God’s first command is that we have no other gods before Him. Re-phrased, this means He commands us to worship Him alone. To worship is to bow down before something or someone because it is “worth” bowing down to. God is only One worthy of our worship. God is unchanging. How He was is how He is. He is also Truth, which by definition means He cannot lie. God promises to fulfill His promises, therefore we can expect Him to fulfill His promises for us just as He has done in every generation past, including in the stories of the Old and New Testaments. When we obey His command to worship, God promises to draw near.
Heaven is our model. In heaven, worship and intercession occur without ceasing: Angels and those who have gone before are constantly worshipping before the throne of God; Jesus is simultaneously worshipped and is interceding on our behalf at the right hand of the Father. Jesus taught us to pray: Our Father who is in heaven; holy is Your name; Your kingdom, come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The idea is for the remnant of His faithful on earth to create an atmosphere of worship, adoration and intercession which puts Him first (thus fulfilling ‘if my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves, seek My face and pray’, then He will restore our land 2 Chron 7:13)
God and His power are inseparable. It is part of who He is. Thus where He is present, so is His power. The objective through our united worship is to cause God to release a cloud of His glory which fills the atmosphere of this country, the battlefields of the War on Terror and ultimately the world. This will enable there to be results from the work done by the activists who support our troops to confound the world’s experts. Our troops and their supporters will not only be blessed by the manifestation of God’s supernatural in unexpected ways into their natural, but – even more importantly – the reality of God will be revealed to more people as well.
Are you called to be part of this worship and prayer cover for those who support our troops? This is the initial idea of how it will look (subject to change as things develop). The thread is to be ongoing. (Is that possible? Please tell me how to do it if it is not….) Periodically, as He leads, I will post a prayer He has had me write down as I pray it. You will be ‘pinged’. You are then responsible to respond only as He leads. For instance sometimes you may post a public response (it may be as simple as ‘prayers up’ or another prayer); you may post your own prayer to the thread and ping us; you may lurk and not let anyone know you are praying but pray in one accord; you may at times be called not to participate at all. The prayers posted can be intercession – asking/beseeching for something in particular – or worship – simply adoring Him in words for who He is what He does, what He’s done and what He definitely will do. The postings can be for a particular activism event someone is aware of or in general. DO AS THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS.

Dear Mountain Flower we will pray for ALL those participating in the events including your friend. AND we need to pray about the vision right now....as you know often we are shown these things, not because they are unchangeable, but so we can come in the name of the Lord against the enemy’s strategies.
Let’s pray....Jesus Christ, You alone are Lord. You alone, God, are Master of the universe - all powerful, all-knowing and in control. You, amazing God, by Your Supreme Wisdom choose to work out Your purposes through us even though we are mere humans - created and not the Creator. We have no power on our own, but You tell us that when You become our Savior and Lord, then we become co-heirs with You. We are seated with You in the heavenly places where You are interceding at the right hand of the Father even as the masses in heaven worship You. You tell us that we become adopted children of God, Your officially commissioned ambassadors on earth. We come then in the authority of Your Name. Lord God, in JESUS’ precious, precious Name, all of us reading this thread come right now in the authority of Your Name against every single strategy of injury and/or death the enemy seeks to unleash against Michael and his platoon. In Jesus’ name, put a shield of Your favor between this group of troops and the enemy. Whatever weapons the enemy tries to use against them, in Jesus’ name we declare they will not prosper! Lord God, turn these weapons on the enemy themselves. We pray Your heart; we pray in Your authority. We wait in confidence of Your response. Lord God, we know You have plans for Michael and his group. They will serve You in ways they do not know yet. We rejoice in all You do with them and through them as they grow in You in the days and years to come. They will raise families for You, represent You to those who do not know You yet. Amen, eaglesnest1. I agree with you in prayer, as do the others here. We give all glory to God for His lovingkindness in answering our prayers for our troops. Lord God, we lift up all the Allied troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we ask you to protect them, put a shield about them to keep them safe from all attacks. Please give them supernatural knowledge and wisdom to avoid any traps set for them. And please let our enemies realize that it is you who are protecting our soldiers. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Heavenly Father, AWESOME LORD, You are the ONLY One we adore. We live for You. Our lives are in You. Our purpose is found ONLY in YOU!!!! God, Father God, You love each and every one of us and desire to draw us all back to You. Lord God, You ordained the United States to be founded on Christian principles. You have used us in times past to be Your light and Your sword – to go forth to set captives free from oppression and walk beside them until they are strong enough to govern themselves. You have set us up to take a stand against evil both in our parents generation and today and in WWII you enabled us to fight to victory. Lord God, every generation before ours has fought for freedom and paid the price which preservation of freedom exacts. Now it is our turn. Valiantly our troops fight on our behalf while we live lives which for the most part are untouched by the war environment in which they dwell. But Lord these troops are being maligned here at home, their work smeared and we will not stand for this. Lord God, there are several events upcoming which require Your sovereign covering. The enemy desires for the American public and world at large to believe ugly lies about our troops. Without Your covering, without Your power and protection all the efforts of all those standing up for our troops will be of no effect. We know that Your covering comes when we are in Your will. Your will is perfect. Often it looks different than what we expect. Give the leaders of the events scheduled 3/22 in Berkeley, 3/14 and 3/15 in Silver Springs and April when Petraeus comes, Your wisdom, Your strategy for their events. Cause them to seek Your plan and rest in Your provision. Be also with those who so valiantly stand up week after week at FReeps in various locations – all so the right thing is done. Give them the stamina to continue and encourage them with signs of Your Presence and signs of Your blessing on the work so that they are strengthened to persevere. Bless all who will come to these events; cover their families at home. Give them safe passage to and from the events. Lord God we also ask that You would inspire them to act with respect and responsibly and to not stoop to the enemy’s tactics which reveal none of the fruit of Your Spirit. Thank you for being and approachable God to whom we can come and to whom we can pray, knowing You will always be faithful to answer. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
