>>On the bright side, the next morning, a member of the Catholic Church said, “Oh, Saundra, I am so sorry to learn about your Church leader passing away.” She made tears come to my eyes and I really appreciated her compassion and concern.<<

That wasn’t me, but I can sympathize.
It was the same for us with JPII and again when B16 came to our shores recently. The vile was suffocating.

I don’t get the idea of any FReeper telling another how to worship. I may think I’m right but I’ll let Our Lord sort out who is wrong.

I’m sorry you were treated that way.

A very nice Mormon FReeper explained to me about some of your religion. She was very sweet and did not look down on me, unlike some of the other “Christians” here who think that I am less than them because I am Catholic.

Actually Catholics and Mormons have a lot in common - being misunderstood, being persecuted, made fun of, reviled. We also have the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, in common. Hallelujah! Here’s some good news:

Very good point. Religious bigotry is normally a liberal thing & should have no place among conservatives or Free Republic. Unfortunately, the bigots are alive & well here. In part, this thread is an attempt to bring that bigotry to light. It's a shame that such a small minority can raise such a ruckus here. Not just against Mormons, but all religious groups whom they deem against what they BELIEVE.

Quite liberal indeed. I often wonder what our founding fathers would have thought about their thoughts & actions. I pray for them none the less. I do believe many of them are good people at heart & they believe what they're doing is the work of the Lord. They've been mislead as to what Christ taught about interaction w/ their fellow man & how to preach the gospel.
