Muslim creationist preaches Islam and awaits Christ (Harun Yahya)

[...] Adnan Oktar -- the 52-year-old Turk behind the pseudonym Harun Yahya -- caught the attention of scientists and teachers in Europe and North America by mass-mailing them his 768-page "Atlas of Creation".

His lavishly illustrated book preaches a Muslim version of creationism [...]

Well-illustrated and free of theological jargon, they preach that Islam is the one true faith and Darwinism, by undermining religious belief, has led to the discord, atheism, terrorism and extreme political ideologies plaguing the world.

[...]

JESUS RETURNS AS A MUSLIM

[...] Oktar says the "Atlas of Creation" campaign and Harun Yahya publishing empire are part of his religious vision of the end of the world in which he plays a role hinted at in his pseudonym.

Harun is Arabic for Aaron, the brother of Moses. Yahya is Arabic for John -- in this case, John the Baptist, he said.

[...] Oktar said Koran verses and sayings of the Prophet Mohammed about the end of the world revealed Jesus would return soon as a Muslim to help Islam's savior, the Mahdi, defeat the Dajjal or Islamic Anti-Christ and establish Islam around the world.

"Our biggest project right now is to lay the grounds for the coming of Jesus Christ," he said. "We understand this is going to be in the next 20 to 25 years." [...]

Go a head, I do every time I read about the Mahdi.

The idea of the Twelfth Imam sitting at the bottom of a well for 1200 years strikes me as pretty funny.

Cutting off heads of infidels, honor killings, and hanging of homosexuals have not turned off liberals from Islam. Do you think anti-Darwinism will do the trick?

It's so obvious that the koran is made up of material from the Bible. The writers of the koran took bits and pieces from the Bible and twisted them to fit their agenda.

I bet an attack against the religion of Darwin would raise the liberal's hackles, but since the mainstream islamic position is one of theistic evolution (i.e., 'God' might have kicked the can to start thing a gazillion years ago, but the Darwinian model took over after the jump-start), they haven't crossed the line (apparently pushing for the destruction of Western Civilization isn't enough to raise the liberal's concern ... in fact, in the pursuit of this cause, they are allies).

You are behind the times:

"...science is not religion."

"...no interest in allowing science to be considered a religion."

This is weird beyond belief...

I just looked at this book this very evening (not 4 hours ago) at a used book sale. The quarto size book is lavishly illustrated with thousands of photos and an incredible range of images from museums around the world. Like many third world projects, it is a bit garish and overdone. However, I thought of buying it for utility purposes but the price was a little too steep.

Too bad I didn’t have some of the lovely and lavish Saudi cash to do my spending with...

Well, he and I can agree on that.

The authors of Islam took bits of Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, and quite a bit of the cultural aspects from the inhabitants of the Arab peninsula to create their synthetic religion so that they could first control the locals, and then conquer their neighbors.

One could say that Christianity went through something similar with the various councils that declared some beliefs heretical, etc. But in the long run, Christians have brought about a new enlightenment of our faith by seeking more personal relationships with God....

Plus, when it comes down to it, Jesus’ message is one of peace and personal and individual choice. Islam’s message is one of collective conquest and submission, and it is absolutely that way to its core.

(Islam is flawed at its core, and will be a thorn in the side of humanity so long as a copy of the Koran still exists. But being who we are, we don’t have the will or desire to wipe out an entire religion and its believers just because they want to do the same to us... Our only option is to remain so strong that Islam can never achieve their goals.)

Hah! Thanks ---

You are behind the times:

You aren't the first person to have told me that.

"...science is not religion."
"...no interest in allowing science to be considered a religion."

Thanks. I agree, Science is not a religion. It is a pursuit to understand the purpose, and why, some thing (or process) works. I.e., Understanding the handiwork of God.
Or as better stated by Isaac Newton:

'This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being... This Being governs all things, not as the soul of the world, but as Lord over all; and on account of His dominion He is wont to be called LORD God, or Universal Ruler...'

Darwinism strikes me as an 'interesting' idea... But as a pursuit to reach an understanding of a purpose, or meaning, it seems less of an aid, and more akin to taking a branch and brushing over footprints that were left in the sand...

The muslims don't deny at all that the two are similar. They just claim that the bible was repeatedly misinterpreted over the years and that the koran was the correct version and came directly from god.
